If you was trying for the Ironman achievement, you could forget it. The Ironman achievement is to get from level 1 to max without dying and only wearing gear that is uncommon white or grey. With the creation of Looking For Group tool, it is no longer a pain to get to the dungeon, just use the tool to get to the dungeon. Shadowfang Keep is the dungeon that is furthest dungeon from an alliance flight point after the destruction of Southshore.
Worgen s are the main antagonists in the dungeon and also protagonists, as they appear every so often to give you a new challenge and suggest where to go.
The location of Shadowfang Keep is to the north of the Great Gilneas Wall that blocked off the city and zone of Gilneas from the rest of the Azeroth ians. Shadowfang Keep is the home of Lord Godfrey who put the curse on the Gilneans and made them turn into Werewolves.
The object of the dungeon is to get to the top and kill Lord Godfrey, an undead practitioner of the dark side of magic. The worgen sieged the keep of the noble, Baron Silverlaine. Situated above the tiny hamlet of Pyrewood, the keep quickly fell into shadow and ruin.
Driven mad with guilt, Arugal adopted the worgen as his children and retreated to the newly dubbed 'Shadowfang Keep'. It's said he still resides there, protected by his massive pet, Fenrus - and haunted by the vengeful ghost of Baron Silverlaine.
For the level, the loot here is highly desirable, with a few different items that could sell well via the twink market. Although the level is still low enough that cash isn't hugely abundant, there is still some silver dropped at least. Everything you need to know about the Shadowfang Keep dungeon entrance is mentioned in this guide.
He is a haunted keep in southern Silverpine Forest, near Pyrewood Village. Another major issue with this instance is the tendency of players leveling alts to underestimate the level of difficulty present here, and who thus believe that the mobs here could simply be chain pulled without regard to the consequences.
Here, you will need a solid tanking, decent healing station, reasonably sound pulling, and a good use of crowd control couldn't hurt. Mages are definitely useful for removing curses for example. During the day, they were human and willing to provide supplies to Alliance travelers, though the keep was never friendly to these adventurers.
They were led by the Pyrewood Council , who were all servants of Arugal. The Forsaken became increasingly suspicious of their activities, especially after the disappearance of one of their apothecaries, Apothecary Berard.
After it was discovered that Arugal had transformed him into a worgen, the Forsaken assassinated the council. Arugal was eventually defeated and beheaded by agents of the Horde. The Lich King saw it fit to bring Arugal back as one of his puppets, [1] so several San'layn blood princes arrived at Shadowfang Keep and found Arugal's grave, raising the Archmage as a shade to serve the Scourge.
Continuing his work converting humans to a wolf cult, the now undead archmage makes his home in a tower built and named for the keep, Shadowfang Tower. Here, he and his new wolf cult were defeated as well. After betraying both Gilneas and the Forsaken, Vincent Godfrey , Baron Ashbury , and Lord Walden converted the abandoned keep into their holdfast against their enemies. The keep became a battleground between the Alliance and Horde vying for Godfrey's head, with both groups aiming to slaughter the man as well as claim the keep for their respective factions.
The Forsaken gained control over Shadowfang Keep, turning it into a bio-weapons facility where they began to produce plague to unleash against Gilneas. Meanwhile, the 7th Legion troops march towards Shadowfang in order to prevent its deployment.
When Mathias Shaw and Flynn Fairwind embarked on their journey to explore Azeroth as well as catalogue the locations of various artifacts, they visited Silverpine forest. Shaw noted his main contact in the area as Ivar Bloodfang, stating that the packleader was his contact within Shadowfang Keep. The pack has apparently claimed it, alongside Fenris Isle, and has taken most of the artifacts within the Shadowfang to Fenris Keep to be guarded closely.
During the Third War , the wizards of the Kirin Tor battled against the undead armies of the Scourge. When the wizards of Dalaran died in battle, they would rise soon after - adding their former might to the growing Scourge. Frustrated by their lack of progress and against the advice of his peers the Archmage , Arugal elected to summon extra-dimensional entities to bolster Dalaran's diminishing ranks.
Arugal's summoning brought the ravenous worgen into the world of Azeroth. The feral wolf-men slaughtered not only the Scourge, but quickly turned on the wizards themselves. The worgen sieged the keep of the noble, Baron Silverlaine. Situated above the tiny hamlet of Pyrewood , the keep quickly fell into shadow and ruin. Driven mad with guilt, Arugal adopted the worgen as his children and retreated to the newly dubbed 'Shadowfang Keep'.
It's said he still resides there, protected by his massive pet, Fenrus - and haunted by the vengeful ghost of Baron Silverlaine. Looming over Pyrewood Village from the southern bluffs of Silverpine Forest, Shadowfang Keep casts a shadow as dark as its legacy. Sinister forces occupy these ruins, formerly the dwelling of the mad archmage Arugal's worgen. Some trash is also periodically immune to magic moonwalker werewolves or totally immune to shadow darksoul werewolves , or have a silencing aura wailing guardsman and may prove interesting for caster only groups.
Last boss can be soloed by classes with dots, as he is very vulnerable to LoS abuse. Players may get a curse that causes them to spawn a very weak higborne ghost randomly for 2 mins, while these appear to be resistant to magic, they die instantly on melee damage. Lupine delusions which are spawned by lupine horrors seem to have the same mechanic, slow to die to magic, die instantly to melee.
Comment by this is irrelevant but back then didnt there used to be another boss, an abomination named "Severe" i think. Comment by speedhaxu This is a great instance if your going in for some good leveling items, though it'd be hard to twink at lvl 19 and it'd be bad to twink at lvl 29 since most items are from Comment by evil1eye Sever was a short lived boss only around during the Scourge invasion patch 1.
Not to ever return unless Blizzard do go ahead with the idea they had of linking the Scourge Invasion with midsummer fire festival but seeing as they added Ahune the Frost Lord this year I'd say that is unlikely.
Given the upcoming release of WotLK they may do something there Naxxramas is moving so maybe to do with that? Comment by This instance has the best gear you'll find for a while. Comment by Crowax Soloed as lvl 28 protection paladin. Really a cool place to farm. Also the wool drops are rather valuable as on my server 1 stack goes for g, depends how much wool is on AH.
I hope for Shadowfang though. Comment by Shadowfang Keep, probably being one of Blizzard's greatest pieces of work is not only great for anyone in the level range, but it also has lots of drops for all classes. Though most of it is pretty linear, I've had plenty of groups get lost, as you enter the instance you will see Arugal slaying a Death Stalker which is required for a quest. To the right there is a door which will begin your journey, and eventually you will find the Worgen Rethilgore.
After he is slayed, you must talk to a Death Stalker in the far right cell who will lead you to the next part. Or Ashcrombe for alliance I believe After he opens the door, clear the Courtyard up to the Saddles and face the Felsteeds for either a bag, or a lantern offhand for spell casters. Now, when the Courtyard is cleared you will see a door, and a ramp. The door will lead to two bosses who do drop Superior loot, while the ramp just leads to bosses after the ones you could have killed via the door.
Please note that the door does continue to the end of the instance. Comment by ehsparkman I just want to say this about SFK i dont have the time to read through all of them right now so im not sure if someone already said somthing about this.
It is a great place to train low lvl enchanting. U may want to start out at 25 or so but it doesnt matter. Of course u could just get a bunch of strange dust and get it up much quicker but this way will get u money in the process so u dont have to buy all of it. Basiclly i reconmend this if u r a lower lvl and cant afford to buy all the supplies to get up to Comment by The chordinates of enternance are : 43 Comment by I ran SFK today and met a new boss named Sever at the top of the ramp from the courtyard.
Its a new boss named Sever, currently dropped Spell dmg leggings, this boss aint at wowhead yet. I think this boss is a Event boss and only appears at the date of the event starts and is gone when ends. Aswell i found a Rare boss that ive never seen before and not yet on wowhead, it dropped me a mail chest with 11 stamina 3 str and 5 spirit.
He is btw in the little room off from courtyard, where used to be undeads. Comment by what level to start skining here my alt is at Comment by That only occurs during the Hallow's End event. Comment by For some reason I decided I didn't want to group this, so I waited to run it solo. Went in there as a 32 Rogue.
Killed everything along the way through the 5th boss, when I realized it was taking way too long. The last 2 bosses were close by so I just stealthed to them. Only died at the 7th boss. Aggroed the whole room 4 dogs and the boss , killed the 2 dogs and died.
Came back and found out if you go straight for the 7th boss the two dogs next to him won't get aggroed. My problem was Argual, because I had run out of healing potions by the time I go to him.
Also when solo'ing, if he turns you into the werewolf and you have no party members to attack his health got restored. After dying twice I had my roommate get on her 29 Druid and stealth through with me.
We only died once together we were so mad, he had like 70 health! I fully believe a twink, or someone with at least a decent healing potion could have taken him at my level. Anyways, if you want to run it alone, you can always summon a friend to help you finish Argual off.
Comment by fun fact: in the part where you have to go along the parapets of the keep, you can jump over the parapets and out of the keep, exiting the instace.
Comment by i just ran this a minute ago and sever is only during the scourge invasion he droped an ok axe for the level you need but otherwise hes real. Comment by Inekadam a run with a 5-man group will earn you 15 gold if you are the only skinner. Comment by I've been here millions of times as a level 23 with a level 58 friend.
Lots of drops although I thought the Hide that the giant wolf drops was awesome and so was the cape the other boss dropped. It's a really nice place if you wanna level up. If you wanna talk or something my name is Taskarmano and my Realm is Garithos. Comment by dont have your hopes on this place if you want rare twink items because IT wont happen the first time if it does you are very lucky but most the time you S.
Comment by did they remove that rare boss? Comment by SaxxonPike Notes on soloing: While facing Arugal, you will either want someone along with you, or be powerful enough to kill him on your own without him casting his enslave spell. If the enslave spell lands and you are the only one there, the fight will reset and both you and the boss will return to full health.
You'll also be forced to run back right next to him. To avoid re-aggroing him after the fight resets, you can take him back into the previous room on the far end. That way when you are forced to run to him when you are enslaved, the spell will break before you make it all the way there.
Comment by I don't know how relevant this is, but it took me a while to find. So I figured I would share it here. Prz enjoy. Comment by Gawwad Too bad that isn't true :P acording to wowhead atleast. Comment by ricekrispieslol this dungeon is one i like to think of as a "present" from wow to casters Comment by Entrance is at 44, Comment by shadowfang keep is very easy for there is a very very rare drop that drops the for rogues, pallys and hunters and warrs.
Comment by This instance contains a good amount of tank drops. If you're around level 20 and are trying to get a decently geared tank, I would take a visit here. Comment by SFK is a great instance to run over and over. It was the first instance I ran solo. Very easy to run and some great blue and tons of green drops. I tend to get a lot of drops for casters so my alts have great equipment without doing anything.
Also a very short run if you are pressed for time. Take the fp to Southshore and ride about five minutes to SFK. It is worth your time. Comment by Just to add, you may enter this instance now at a lowest level of ten. Comment by RedHazeKiwi You can pretty much aoe this in pulls with a prot paladin at least that's what I did pre-tbc and probably won't be too hard with a feral druid either, due to the absorb skill on crits. I find it quite soothing. Good luck "farming".
Comment by There will be heroic Shadowfang Keep and Deadmines in the next expansion. They are one of my favourite instances :. Comment by Since when was this a man player limit instance.
Comment by Have run this instance up to the the Deathsworn Captain over times seeking Shadowfang. Not only has Shadowfang not dropped, but no other BoE blue has dropped either. I'll try a few more times, but it may simply not be possible.
Comment by Abomb this instance for players who r the lv u are suppose to be running this is very long and without a good group that nows the instance can be very hard.
Comment by For soloing with a hunter: would arugals enslave spell reset the encounter if pet is still attacking him? Comment by Gyaris When I was doing the trial, this was the first instance I ever ran, and is what sold me on the game and I got the full account.
This instance reminds me of a game I used to play in my younger days called "Shadowkeep" back on the Apple II So far I've yet to not take a character here, as it's fun and interesting to play.
Comment by cipher Just 2-manned this with a level 26 Protection Paladin me and a level 27 Affliction Warlock to get my paladin some better tanking gear. Took us a while, granted, but not too much longer than a regular run.
Comment by Whole instance can be soloed by a retri starting at lvl 22 when he enters the instance he will kill Arugal on lvl 24 then. It's really funny and entertaining and you should definitely go for it while leveling your pala. Your equipment needs to be somewhat decent. So use the 3 Heirlooms Arcanite Reaper with Fiery Weapon will suffice and if you want the 2 Heirloom trinkts and green items in all other slots.
There are only 2 difficult pulls in the instance: 1 the wolves before Arugal: you have to fight 4 wolves at once and then the boss who spawns additional Adds without a break betwenn those 2 fights. Just kite the wolves down to the Alchemy Lab and heal after you have beat them and kill the boss afterwards. Use up all your cooldowns you don't need any for Arugal and jump down the rotunda and heal in the time it takes for the wolf to reach you.
Kite the mob s back up and repeat if you need to.
