I think my old Linksys Wireless G had a stronger signal at the same distance. Overall Review: I hate that they market these as Mbps routers. They are Mbps routers, but because they are dual band you can have Mbps on each band.
This would never be from the same device so it would never see that Mbps speed. Mainly because it's a dual and concurrent band router with gigabit ethernet. Flashed Shibby Tomato after a few attempts and this thing is acting like my old reliable WRT54GL - going on nearly a year now with no need to reboot. The bottom line is that with Tomato this thing just plain works You cannot go wrong by spending the extra cash for this 3rd party firmware capable beast.
Running extensive QoS throughout my network, an OpenVPN, and this isn't even scratching the surface of what this thing is capable of. Overall Review: I researched and watched dual-band routers for over 2 years before being satisfied with an offering that would meet my expectations.
A great buy for a great Pros: I bought this router to replace my Linksys E router because the E couldn't quite cover my entire home with a wifi signal. In areas of my home were I couldn't connect at all when I had the E now have an excellent signal.
Open Source support was a big selling point for me. I flashed Shibby's Tomato firmware to this router. This router is way over specced for a router. The sleek black design looks very good. I really like the standard replaceable antennas. Most routers these days are moving towards no antennas. Not this router.
Not only are the antennas easily replaceable, and they use the standard antenna connector, but the antennas ASUS includes are high-gain already. So you really don't have to replace them. Most routers that do come with removable antennas usually include low-gain antennas. Cons: The only real con I could come up with for this router was that the finish really shows fingerprints.
But I don't really care all that much. It does everything I would hope for. It easily covers my whole house with good quality wireless signal sq ft on both bands of the wireless. Dual band is great to have, I keep my second desktop on the 5 GHz band, and it is great for that.
Having 2 USB ports makes my life much easier. Since my printer isn't wireless, I had to always have my desktop on to be able to access the printer from any of my other devices, now I can access it from everything anytime I want even when my desktop is off.
The second USB port is great for my external hard drive, it stores all my work and school files so that I can access them no matter where I am. Setup took me maybe 4 minutes Cons: I can't really think of much.
Doesn't have wireless AC, but neither do any of the devices I use Overall Review: This is probably the best router I have ever owned. Beyond the great features, just picking it up and feeling it during set-up gave the impression of high quality. Like I felt like I could throw the thing across the room and it would survive I always appreciate well-made hardware.
Overheating was my main problem with my old Netgear router and believe me N66U really runs cool as compared to all the Dlinks and Netge Manpreet Singh Dhillon Certified Buyer. This router is about as good as it gets. It's got all the usual stuff a wireless router should have. Dual band, independently configurable. All configurable through a very elegant and intuitive interface.
Then there are the premium features; Dual USB port. I've plugged a hard-disk in one, but more about that later. I've got a 3G modem in the other Tata Photon. The 3G modem works as a backup. If the PPPoE ever goes down, the route Harish Shivaram Certified Buyer.
This is my Best Router I've ever owned, packs with great punch and enormous amount speed and stability, has a dual band of 2. Hey guys.. After doing several research on routers i came across this particular router which is best among its class with Dual band 2. The range is not that great but sufficient for me and all my electronics that needs the range. I am running 2 T. Dharam Kapadia Certified Buyer , Mumbai.
This is the best router for ppl like me living in big houses. Excellent range provides signal on ground floor even though i live on 6th floor.
Occassionaly gets hot in summer time but thats not a deal breaker. Overall very satisfied with this router and would definately recommend it.
